It is a short story of a community forestry users group of  Indrayani CF of Dhanding . It explains how users group saved their CF from encroachers in a peaceful way.

At the mid day of 1 Sept 2008, over 535 numbers of so-called landless people including few locals entered into the community forest area and built numbers of huts for settlement. They captured more than 31 ropanies of land of Indrayani CF. That was a big challenged to Users Groups of Indaryani, FECOFUN and activists of community forestry movements. By the time the user group of concerned CF strategically managed advocacy campaigns against the encroachment in local, district and center level in the backstopping of center FECOFUN. In local level, they registered a complain against the enchorachers for legal action in District Administrative and DFO offices, Dhading. They also mobilized the users in social campaigns in coordinating with district FECOFUN such as mass rallies, mass meetings, corner meeting, house to house and tole to tole meeting, press release and delegations etc.

At the same time, district level federation of FECOFUN played crucial role in the movement and arranged a series of interaction meetings in the district headquarter among the political parties, CSOs, Journalists, GLAs and other stakeholders to make broader understanding and constituency building up on the issues of CF encroachment.

Likewise, the national federation of FECOFUN arranged series of interactions in the center in the presence of government policy makers, CSOs and media personals on the issues and its implication to the sustainable biodiversity conservation of the country. Informal meetings and delegations were also held with MoFSC with Minister Mr. Kiren Gurung, Secretary, Directorate General of Forest Department and other members on this regards .The media also played crucial roles to bring this issue in national level and helped to develop broader understanding among the policy makers, political parties, CSOs and people.

As the result of three tier (local, district and center) efforts, its effective linkage and using appropriate tools and techniques in advocacy process, the political parties, CSOs, and GLAs realized the intention of the encroachers and its effect on forest management process of the country. They expressed solidarity to the CFUG/FECOFUNs' movement in securing community rights and protect the CF in both verbal and written way.

Due to the consolidated voice of local communities, CSOs, GLAs, political parties and the medias, against the encroachment, the encroachers (so-called landless) realized their weakness and left the forest area peacefully on 11 September, 2008.
