An Introduction to the RADHAKRISHNA Community Forestry Users Group, Sarlahi Nepal

By Rajendra K.C. - 11/29/2009

I have been posting short introduction about a successful example of Community Forestry in Terai. As a government employee working on the same district, I have prepared this introductory note in 2006 and one copy of this was already provided to this CFUG through its secretary.

Radhakrishna CFUG is located at Lalbandi Sarlahi, and trying to manage plantation forest of Sissoo, and natural forest of Sal (Shorea robusta). Besides they are implementing poverty reduction programme through several income generation activities and domestication of NTFPs.

As this introductory note was written three years back and not updated as per present information, many information might have seen already old however I think that it would be somewhat beneficial to the people who wants to critically analyse the pros and cons of CF programme in Terai. Further, the font problems with my computer, created some problems for the correct and smooth flow of writing since I have to make comprise with many words and sentences!

I would like to upload this article with the hope and request that some interested people can update it and use it freely for extension purposes! I will be very grateful if someone (such as DFO sarlahi, DFCC or such other organisation)make available this article to the users of Radhakrishna CFUG with recent update!

Thank you all,
