Baghmara CFUG conferred award by RONAST
Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (RONAST) has decided to present this year’s His Majesty King Gyanendra Nature Conservation Award to the Baghmara Community Forest Management Committee, Chitwan for its exemplary role in sustainable development through protection of bio-diversity and promotion of eco-tourism.
HM King Gyanendra Nature Conservation Award is the highest nature conservation award newly established by RONAST. This Award is conferred every two years on the individuals and/or institutions contributing in nature conservation under any genre of science and technology. The Award carries a purse of Rs 100,000.
RONAST has also decided to honour the Bhattedanda Conservation Ropeway for promotion of clean environment and senior journalist Bhairav Risal for taking solar power to Humla with the RONAST Science and Technology Promotion Award. S&T Promotion Award is given annually up to two persons or institutions of the country for promotion of S&T, and for creating public awareness on the importance of science and technology. The prize carries a purse of Rs 20,000 each.
Similarly, bird ecologist Dr Hem Sagar Baral was honoured with Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Award for his remarkable contributions in bird ecology of Nepal.
