why ACOFUN ?!

Dear friends,

FECOFUN and ACOFUN?! What are the similarities and differences between these two organisations? Has it been spontaneous originated or insisted?! If it is spontaneous, then it may work but if it is pushed, then it will stop working after the project stop funding. Therefore, the need is to institutionalise and work towards empowerment of the people, not towards making it as weapons to counteract with some already established organisation.

What are the status of community participation at the moment in Terai region especially in BISEP-ST districts? How far has the CFM been run in Mahottari and Sarlahi districts? The philosophy of CFM is good, it tries to incorporate all the sectors, far and near users, benefitted and losers, but can it work smoothly at the moment with the present implementing organisation; with suspicious morale and ethics?

What are the present status of CFM? How far it has been reached in fulfilling its target?

Can CF or CFM at the present modality, go after the Federal systems? I think that after the CA election, the terai would be ruled by Madhesi people who are at the moment deprived of Community forestry programme on the basis of vicinity to the forests. Then which type of forestry administration and systems, should we have? Does BISEP-ST, Department of Forests, ACOFUN, FECOFUN etc have concrete plans for the future federal systems of Nepal?

Also about the naming of ACOFUN which looks like FECOFUN. Why this new organisation need to follow the nomenclature as did by FECOFUN? What does this mean? Are they competitor or complementary? Expecting much more to know here or in my mail: rkc_nep@yahoo.com
