| Abstract | Non-timber Forest Products (NTFP) is one of the important sub- sectors in forestry. NTFP embraces products such as leaf, bark, seed, fruit, resin, etc. Some are industrially important. NTFP have a significant role in uplifting the Nepalese economy. There are 700 different species of medicinal and aromatic products in Nepal. In the Nepalese context the remoteness, the altitudes, etc. play important roles in NTFP management. Research and development on NTFP is not a new activity in Nepal but more thrust is required. Information technology can play an important role in development of NTFP and hence a NTFP Database is of prime necessity. Cultivation and domestication of NTFP is urgently required to increase NTFP production and productivity. |
