This publication is a compilation of the four technical background papers prepared for a workshop held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India to highlight the special issues associated with managing dry forests of Asia; in particular to put forward ideas for the development of criteria and indicators for the sustainable management of such forests. Participants were from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, China, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar and Mongolia.
