A review on the probable causes of the Dalbergia sissoo dieback and mitigating measures to be introduced is presented. Tree improvement strategies such as breeding programmes, plus tree selection, establishment of breeding seedling orchards, and progeny trials, for the disease resistance of D. sissoo are discussed.
