Abstract

A review is given of the papers included in the proceedings, wherein the number of categories have been expanded from the original three (livelihoods, governance and sustainable forest management) to twelve so that a more specific set of categories can emerge which clearly indicate the kind of papers contained within the respective categories. Emphasis is given of the need for transforming community forestry governance at different levels and enhancing livelihoods of the poor households within forest user groups. The key points of the conference papers are national policy, international policy, forest management, non- timber forest products management, Terai and high altitude, community forest user group governance/institutional process, cross-scale governance, livelihoods, gender dimensions, entrepreneurship and business, upscaling of Nepal experiences, and key theoretical aspects linked to community forestry practice.
