Abstract

Thirty-six insecticidal plants used by local people in some villages and adjoining areas of the Bagmati Watershed areas, Nepal is presented, together with information on their local names, families and plant parts used. The insecticidal plants are commonly found in habitats such as closed canopy mixed hardwood forests, coniferous forests, grasslands, gardens, wastelands and cultivated fields. However, most of the plants are restricted to shaded forest habitats. Acorus calamus , Vitex negundo and Zanthoxylum armatum are threatened due to improper land use.
