This paper discusses the policy issues influencing the management and promotion of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in Nepal. Topics covered include: regulatory policy; fiscal policy constraints; institutional constraints/opportunities; and marketing and trade issues. An analysis of the current status of two important NTFPs ( Cordyceps sinensis and Dactylorhiza hatagirea ) in the country is presented.
