Abstract  

Ulmus wallichiana subsp. wallichiana has been given the status of endangered species (IUCN 1978). Valued as a fodder for cattle or goats, it is lopped heavily by an increasing population in the hilly regions of the Himalayas from Afghanistan to India and Nepal. This report describes briefly its economic value, distribution, description, cultivation and conservation measures.
