Abstract  

The extent of Dalbergia sissoo mortality in natural forests, plantations, roadsides, and agricultural fields in India, is discussed. The diseases ( Fusarium wilt disease, root rot caused by Ganoderma lucidum , root and butt rot caused by Phellinus gilvus , and root knot caused by Meloidogyne javanica ) reported to be associated with D. sissoo mortality are described. Insect species ( Plecoptera reflexa and Dichomeris eridantis ) reported to damage D. sissoo are presented. The effect of edaphic factors on the mortality of D. sissoo is also discussed. Results of researches on D. sissoo mortality in India are also discussed. Existing and suggested control measures are also presented.
