Abstract

Increases in soil N are reported from pot experiments with 40 leguminous (8 herbs, 11 shrubs, 4 climbers, 17 trees) and 2 leguminous (1 tree and 1 shrub) species collected from a 72-3800 m altitude range in the forest area of eastern Nepal. The results are discussed briefly in relation differences between species, plant succession, reclamation and site amelioration.
