Background and Rationale

It has been very much essential to know the spatial as well as temporal distribution of the resource if they are to be properly mananged in a sustainable manner because that helps to assess the status of the resources at different geography, which has a very strong management implication. Based on the resource base situation, certain management prescriptions can be recommended. But the question is reliability and validity of the data collected. The Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) are such technologies that are much more reliable, precise and efficient as well than any other resource assessment technology. These technologies give a visual impression of the landscape that helps to make quick decision in resource management.
