SANDEE is organizing a three-week introductory training course in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics for Economists from April 22-May 10, 2006. The course is meant for economists interested in upgrading their skills and learning related to
Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.  The course will cover economic issues underlying sustainable development, poverty-environment interactions, and natural resource use and pollution management. Participants will be exposed to basic theoretical issues and economic tools and methodologies for analyzing environmental problems in developing countries.

Prior training in Economics and understanding of micro-economics, quantitative economics and econometrics is a pre-requisite for this course. Economists who have already undertaken training in basic environmental economics through other programs
or universities are not eligible. Junior to mid-career faculty and researchers are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to teachers and researchers who have either submitted or are considering submitting a research proposal to SANDEE. Approximately 25 participants will be selected.

Participants will be expected to read material prior to the course, and participate in detailed assignments and discussions during the course.  Participants will also be expected to present a research concept at the end of the course. Last year's course agenda is available on www.sandeeonline.org for your review and information.

Interested applicants from South Asian countries should send a letter to the SANDEE secretariat clearly indicating how such a course will be useful to them and identifying very specifically how they will use the course in their future professional activities.
They should specify the name of the person nominating them and include a detailed CV.  Please email the letter and attachments to Kavita Shrestha at kavitasATsandeeonline.org and kavitas.sandeeATgmail.com no later than March 1, 2006.
