This program will bring together the emerging environmental leaders of international organizations to learn advanced skills in habitat restoration, environmental education and community outreach. EARTHCORPS CHARGES NO FEES for its training and in fact supplies insurance, individual homestay families, food, gear, and a monthly stipend to all international participants. Earthcorps provides additional support in acquiring US J-1 Trainee visas.

Forest Action is pleased to announce the international training course, "Introducing Community Forestry: Innovative Ideas, Practices and Methodologies", which will be held from 9 to 20 October 2006 to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The training course is jointly organized by ForestAction, Nepal and RECOFTC, Thailand.
The course in October will build upon the very successful training held in March 2006 that identified and analyzed key community forestry concepts, practices and methodologies. The course in October 2006 will again utilize the extensive experience of community forestry in Nepal as a building block to explore the issues and supplement this with further case studies and experiences from throughout the region. The experiences from the training will be both exciting and enriching.

Introduction to GIS application in Natural Resource Management
Background and Rationale
It has been very much essential to know the spatial as well as temporal distribution of the resource if they are to be properly mananged in a sustainable manner because that helps to assess the status of the resources at different geography, which has a very strong management implication. Based on the resource base situation, certain management prescriptions can be recommended. But the question is reliability and validity of the data collected. The Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) are such technologies that are much more reliable, precise and efficient as well than any other resource assessment technology. These technologies give a visual impression of the landscape that helps to make quick decision in resource management.
