Shiva Khanal in the September issue of LEISA Magazine writes how the Nepal Government plan to scale up the local successes of leasehold forestry failed. 

This paper is based on literature review and aimed to address the following questions; what are issues and challenges in inventory? What can we do for sustainable management of NTFPs?

Plant secondary metabolites play an important role of influencing the performance of insect. The toxic secondary metabolites may have negative effect to the herbivorous insect. In this study, we tried to figure out what are the influences of secondary metabolites on growth and fitness of lepidopterous larvae.

With funding from DFID's Research Into Use (RIU) Innovation Challenge Fund (ICF) 2008-2011, four projects in Nepal gets under way. The projects are led by four Nepalese NGOs - LI-BIRD, FORWARD, IDE Nepal and ForestAction. 

COMForM project with support from other NGO/INGO is publishing a textbook for BSc and MSc students. The book will provide a comprehensive overview of current forestry issues in Nepal, including the practices of the community forestry programme and protected area management.
