Project Officer at SAEENO/CARE Nepal
SAEENO/CARE Nepal invites applications from interested candidates for the Project Officer position.
Only woman candidates are eligible to apply for this position.
It is based in the Janakpur cluster and the working area will be Koshi Tappu Buffer Zone (Udayapur, Saptari and Sunsari). The project started in July 2006 and will end in June 2009.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Officer (PO) is responsible to provide technical and institutional support to the Project Level Partner (PLP), field officer and project participants in improving the livelihoods of poor, landless, dalit and marginalized women of the Koshi Tappu Buffer Zone area through economic empowerment. She will be responsible for monitoring, evaluation, research and documentation of SAEENO project experiences. She will have to assist other CARE Nepal project in formulation of SAEENO strategy, and support by providing all information as and when required at the project level. The PO will represent Koshi Tappu Buffer Zone meetings, workshops and develop networks and other co-ordination activities with all concerned stakeholders at district levels.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Familiarity with forestry and biodiversity
- Familiar with NTFPs/MAPs and on/off farm conservation for economic empowerment of women
- Good knowledge on Government policies and plans like the master plan for forestry sector, forestry policies, regulation including NTFPs, environmental policies and strategies
- Monitoring, supervision, documentation and reporting skills
- Good knowledge on GED and women empowerment
- Strong facilitation & good interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing & documentation skills (Nepali and English) and experience in publishing articles/ research papers
- Able to use computers to run office application software packages.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- More than 1 years experience in NTFP management for economic empowerment and livelihood
- More than three-year of practical experience in NRM and forestry sector
- Bachelor degree in Forestry or Natural Resource Management or relevant subject.
