ANSAB (Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources) is an international non-governmental organization with its headquarters in Kathmandu. Established in 1992, ANSAB is committed to biodiversity conservation and economic development through community-based enterprise oriented solutions. ANSAB has been working in the field of natural resource management and economic development. It focuses its activities on the sustainable use and management of Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) supporting community based forest enterprises (CBFEs).

ANSAB invites applications from qualified and experienced Nepali citizens for the post of Program Manager, for its head office, Kathmandu. The potential candidate will be responsible to oversee and manage all existing programs: 1) Natural Resource Management; 2) Economic Development; 3) Market Information Services (MIS); 4) Policy, Research & Networking and; 5) Capacity Building and Services.

General Responsibilities:

  • FUNDRAISING & PROGRAM DESIGN. Leads on fundraising for ANSAB programs and other needs and identifies funding opportunities, needs assessment, project design, proposal drafting and preparation of marketing tools. Develops new initiatives and long term goals / objectives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • PLANNING. Oversees the creation, compilation and writing of program reports and other periodic program documents. Reviews program plans and reports up-to-date information to the Executive Director.
  • PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION, MONITORING & REPORTING. Implements programs effectively by mobilizing human and other resources and coordinating stakeholders. Designs and executes M&E plan, tracking system and reporting. Monitors and ensures that the programs are in line with the program evaluation framework and also maintains the funding agency’s accountability standards. Supports staffing (including recruitment and orientation), capacity building, team building, and develops and implements a Performance Evaluation System so that ANSAB staff is motivated, creative and productive.
  • REPRESENTATION. Represents ANSAB and its programs at donor, I/NGO/GO and other forums as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

Specific Requirements:

  • A minimum of Master’s degree with major coursework related to the area of assignment such as Forestry, Natural Sciences, Economics, Agroeconomy, or Environmental Science.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience within or related to the program assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
  • Ability to lead day-to-day program oversight and management. Provide program-based guidance and interpretations for staff and field. Able to plan schedules budgets and resources.
  • Ability to coordinate the program development and design process, including needs assessments, project design, drafting proposals, preparing marketing tools, evaluation and reporting.
  • Ability to ensure project compliance with program goals, policies and procedures. Skill in developing contingency plans to address changing program needs.
  • Ability to prepare program budgets to meet regulatory requirements with Finance Manager. Ability to oversee administration of project budget, including control and monitoring of project related expenditures.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, simultaneously within stringent time constraints.

 

Desired Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of forestry issues and policies with community development strategies.
  • Passionate to learn, interpret and apply policies, procedures and resolutions.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the field with no reservation about travelling to remote areas.
  • Excellent English and Nepali language with proven computer skills.
  • A valid driving license and own vehicle would be an asset.

 

Salary and Benefits:

ANSAB provides employees with a competitive package of salary that commensurate with experience. Upon completion of a probationary period of 6 months, all the benefits and facilities offered by the organization as per its policy would be applicable.
