Project Description:

The project aim is to improve livelihoods of the local population through rehabilitation and sustainable use of the Churia forests. Most of Nepal's Churia Forests between the gangetic plain and the hill region are degraded due to overuse and encroachment by the growing population. The ChFDP tries to reverse this development in the districts of Siraha, Saptari and Udayapur by its participatory integrated resources management approach with emphasis on community forestry, off-forest income generation, soil conservation, and promotion of alternative energy.
