The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) has published the final report on the World Bank’s proposal for a Global Forest Partnership (GFP). GFP is an emerging initiative that could pave the way for fundamental change in the way forests are managed, boosting efforts to fight both poverty and climate change.

Identification Mission of Finnish Support to Forest Sector Development in Nepal

In October 2007 governments of Nepal and Finland agreed to expand the water and sanitation sector to cover the cooperation in water and sanitation, environment and forestry sectors. The new cooperation sector was labelled as "natural resources". Subsequently, an identification mission was conducted during 7 – 17 January 2008 in Kathmandu as a first step towards formulating a joint project/programme for forest sector development in Nepal.

In the absence of their men: Women and forest management in the Mid-hills of Nepal

In a new book 'Environmental Economics and Investment Assessment II', K. Giri, B. Pokhrel and I. Darnhofer have a chapter on male outmigration and women's role in forest management in the mid-hills of Nepal. The book contains papers presented at the Second International Conference on Environmental Economics and Investment Assessment, held in Cadiz, Spain, in 28 - 30 May, 2008.
