Rhino Conservation Action Plan

The Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros Conservation Action Plan for Nepal (2006-2011) was released by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mr. Shubash Nembang, during the Parliamentary Conservation Committee meeting held in Kathmandu on 7 January 2007.

The action plan gives further shape to short- and long-term strategies for rhino conservation. The nine objectives focus on research, habitat expansion, translocation, improved human-rhino conflict, strengthening anti-poaching, building infrastructural capacity, limiting ex-situ conservation, increasing collaboration on all levels, and ensuring sustainable funding to implement the plan.

Forest Act, 1993 and Forest Regulation, 1995

The Forest Act of 1993 and Forest Regulation 1995 has provisions for management of community forests, protective forests, leasehold forests, religious forests and other categories of forests in Nepal.
