Synopsis:

Community forestry has brought many changes to Nepal, changes to forests and changes to people’s lives. Switzerland has a unique position in the development of community forestry in Nepal. Switzerland has been engaged in community forestry since the time of preparation of the Forestry Sector Master Plan in 1989, a comprehensive forest policy document for the period of 1990-2010. Whereas Swiss support started with a focus on agro-forestry and capacity building of forest staff, subsequent phases focused on forming community forest user groups, and capacity building of groups and local non-governmental organisations.

what a great success

I felt so proud when I read this article, written by project staff (should be). Initial paragraphs shed light on community forestry taking an example of Rug Thami. It is really fascinating ! Meantime, some of the questions raised in my mind: 1. how many Rug Thami are in that district? or Thami didi is just showcase to extend project phase ! 2. Do authors analyse costs of developing Thami as a role model? 3. How could they develop Thami as a role model? I would be happy if I could get answers to my questions.

Great comment ! Most of the

Great comment ! Most of the organisations are using poor people (one or two....) as a show case investing a lot without considering the overall impact in the society !

Would be great if authors could focus on such impacts.
