I believe that indigenous communities are the real managers of natural resources and have a broad spectrum of knowledge and their customary practices play a significant role in sustainable development process of the communities and country. Once state acknowledges their rights and knowledge, and practice the real sagacity of local governance, the ultimate objective of biological and genetic resources management, as outlined in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), can be achieved.
