Forest User Groups

Forest User Groups (FUGs) are groups of people residing around forest vicinities that are entrusted to manage, conserve, develop the forest resources and utilize the forest products. These are autonomous and corporate bodies having perpetual succession. The FUGs are actively and decisively involved in whole range of community forestry processes. They are responsible for preparing the constitution (or FUG Charter) and work plan (or management plan) of the community forests that they are to be handed over, and deal and decide upon all issues that arise in the process of managing the forest.
