Tree Volume
-
Hubber’s Formula (for Paraboloid logs): V = Sm * l
-
Smalian’s Formula (for Paraboloid logs): V = (S1 +S2)*l/2
-
Newton’s Formula (for Neiloid logs): V = (S1 +4Sm+S2)*l/6
-
Quarter girth Formula: V = G*G*l/16
Where,
V = Volume of log
L = Length of log
Sm = Mid cross-sectional area of log
S1 = Cross-sectional area at the smaller end
S2 = Cross-sectional area at the larger end
G = Girth of log
Volume Calculation of Sawn Timber:
V = L x B x H cft.
Volume Calculation of Firewood/Stacked Wood: Firewood is stacked in the form of rectangular parallelepipeds and the volume of the stacked firewood is calculated by: Volume = Length (ft) x Height (ft) x Breadth (ft) of the stack. In Nepal, generally stacks are made of the dimensions 20ft. x 5ft. x 5ft. (500 cft.).
