Lokta

Lokta or Daphne spp., is generally found at altitudes of 1,829 to 3,048 m. in the moist forests of Nepal. These plants tend to grow densely between altitudes of 2,438 m. to 2,743 m. in the understorey of both broad-leaved and coniferous forests. The shrubs reach 5m. in height with basal diameters of 7 cm. in favorable sites. The inner fibrous bark of the bast of the Daphne bholua and Daphne papyracea are commonly used for the manufacture of handmade paper.
