| Abstract | Following an examination of many species, the Platysoma complex is divided it into 8 genera. The genera Apobletes, Platysoma and Platylister were redefined, and 5 new genera ( Afrosoma, Latinolister, Niposoma, Kanaarister and Desbordesia ) are described. Additionally, two new subgenera in the genus Platylister - Ricinodendrus and Popinus - are established. Two new species of Platysoma s.s. are described: P. koreanum from North Korea and P. minax from India, Nepal and Thailand. Platylister madecassum is synonymized with P. urvillei . A list of the species examined is given. Some ecological and evolutionary implications are discussed. |
