| Abstract | The present study highlights the nutritive values of less known wild edible plants used by rural people of Makwanpur district. Ethnobotanical study was also undertaken in the month of June 1999. The study includes habitats, seasonal availability and consumption of these plant species and their cooking or processing practices. Samples of the selected plants like Labia spinosa, Arisaema expendiculatum, Phoenix humilis, Boehmeria macrophylla , and Ophioglossum nudicaule were brought to the laboratory for nutrients analysis such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats and minerals. The standard AOAC methods were followed for analysis. The results of analysis indicated that these wild plants contained high protein value and high crude fibres. |
