Appropriate forest harvesting technology: an overview

Forests of Nepal have been harvested indiscriminately by both the local people and the government. While the former continue to use the traditional tools, the latter had introduced a mechanized system in harvesting operation in 1970. The present paper briefly discusses the pros and cons of both the forest harvesting technologies in the context of Nepal. Research outcomes of other countries have also been cited.
