How significant is the integration of Environmental issue with Economic and Social issues?

Sustainability is often considered in terms of three pillars of environmental, social and economic (ESE) considerations .Within each pillars there will always be a number of factors (i.e. corresponding to impacts in traditional assessment) that need to be taken into account with respect to a particular decisions. There is general agreement that policies, plans, programmes and projects should be planned so as to take full account of ESE considerations. What is much less clear is whether the EIAs and SEA that support those decisions should also integrate these considerations
