AbstractFive root samples and one seed sample of Dalbergia sissoo were examined to determine the relation between fungi and dieback of Dalbergia sissoo . Pathogenicity test was also conducted on D. sissoo seedlings. Black stroma, consisting of groups of pycnidia of Botryodiplodia sp., was identified in one of the samples. The brown discoloured tissue of another sample also produced the pycnidia and spores of Botryodiplodia sp. Three samples were observed infected by Fusarium solani . The seeds examined were free from infection by species of Fusarium . Other fungi associated with the seeds were Aspergillus spp., Cladosporium sp., and Alternaria sp. No effect was detected on the seedlings, irrespective of the treatment. A list of fungi associated with D. sissoo is presented.
