| Abstract | A study was conducted to investigate the geographical distribution of Bael ( Aegle marmelos ), a very valuable fruit tree species in the world, in Nepal. The Bael trees are indigenous to Nepal and found in 67 districts. It has wide range of geographical distribution ranging from 60 m in Terai to 1500 m in Middle Mountains. Since it has medicinal properties, it is used in curing different diseases and as ingredients of nutritive foods. Livelihoods of some of the ethnic groups in the Terai still depend on the Bael fruit collection, processing and marketing. |
