SNV Nepal operates through portfolio offices based in West, Central Terai, Kathmandu and East. The Central Terai Portfolio Office is based in Hetauda and is geographically focused on clients from 8 Terai districts (Chitwan, Makwanpur, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Danusha and Mahotari). Although there is scope of operating in other sectors, the main focus of the Central Terai Portfolio currently is on Forest Products and Water and Sanitation.
SNV Nepal is looking for a dynamic Nepali development professional to work as:
Coordinator: Central Terai/Senior Advisor Forest Products (vacancy code: 20098)
The Coordinator is member of the Country Management Team at SNV Nepal and reports directly to the Country Director. S/he is expected to provide active, critical and innovative inputs to country management team, manage multi-disciplinary interventions through multi-disciplinary team as well as provide strategic leadership in the Forest Products sector at national level.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Actively provide input and direction to SNV Nepal's country strategy and strategic positioning.
- Formally represent SNV in the Central Terai region and provide leadership in managing all interventions implemented in that region.
- Manage and coach Central Terai team members for effective service delivery and their professional development through creating inspiring and facilitative work environment.
- Contribute as part of the Country Management Team, and be responsible for the strategy development and positioning of SNV Nepal in the Forest Products sector.
- Develop, expand and maintain effective institutional networks and identify and capitalize on joint-programming and fund-raising possibilities.
- Lead assignments related with Forest Products through providing strategic advisory services.
- Coordinate existing and new externally funded programs in forest sector including Biodiversity Sector Programme for Siwalik and Terai (BISEP-ST).
Major Requirements:
- Master's degree in economics, business management, agriculture or forest/natural resource management related disciplines.
- Minimum of five years of experience in providing advice to organisations with at least three years of experience in senior management level.
- Minimum of three years experience in economic use of forests, or forest products related business development.
- Successful experience in program development, monitoring and resource mobilisation.
- Broad institutional and professional network.
- Experience of engaging private sector in forest products.
- Strong communication and knowledge management skills; and fluency in English.
The position will be based in Hetauda in the Regional Portfolio Office, with extensive field visits. At least one monthly visit to Kathmandu is guaranteed. SNV Nepal provides exemplary benefits package.
