| Abstract | This paper discusses the links between rural poverty and environmental degradation in Asian developing countries. The depletion of natural resources (land, water and forests) and the combined effects of resource depletion and poverty on human capital are examined. Policies to alleviate rural poverty and protect the rural environment are then explored. |
