| Abstract | A study is presented of Nepal and the social, economic and environmental impact of the growing tourist industry. The history of the Kingdom is described together with the changing political system. Different sections examine: the agricultural economy; the role of women in society; health provision in remote rural areas; Nepal's relationship with its neighbours; and environmental problems (including the development of community forestry). The final section considers the involvement of an NGO, Oxfam in Nepal. |
