| Abstract | This article discusses three participatory approaches to biodiversity management in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region: participatory forest management; enterprise-based, community- involved biodiversity management; and the landscape approach to biodiversity management. It covers joint forest management in India, community forestry and leasehold forestry in Nepal, and other successful examples of participatory biodiversity management initiatives in mountain areas. |
