| Abstract | Correlation of ecological factors such as tree height, diameter at breast height, altitude and habitat with wood structure of Alnus nepalensis growing in Central Nepal were assessed. Thirty four wood samples were taken from the outermost part of the matured stem at seven localities between 600 m and 1600 m above sea level. Tree height ranged from 11 to 20 m and DBH ranged from 10 to 60 cm. Habitat ranged from mountainous slope to river belt and the degree of inclination. Quantitative wood characters were found to vary with respect to variation in habitat. Tree height and altitude showed correlation with pore characters. So plant habitat showed correlation with wood structure. Altitude had the greatest effect. |
