| Abstract | A number of community forestry case studies are presented to illustrate a range of traditional systems of individual and community (user group) forest management in the Himalayas. The case studies provide evidence of the concern of village people for the resource, and also provide forest developers with opportunities to act constructively in implementing people orientated legislation, put vision into development policy, and pursue sensitive actions towards ensuring local participation (re- incorporation) in long-range development and management. |
