| Abstract | A survey carried out as part of a cooperative project to develop improved fodder management strategies in the mid-hills of Nepal resulted in a complete record of the fodder resources used by 50 households in five distinct locations. Details of the constituents of the fodder supply and reported deficits were taken over six seasons through a series of interviews with farmers. Summaries of the information obtained show a marked decline in the quantity of feed collected and the average daily dry matter intake of livestock from a peak in July through to the end of the dry season in May. Farmers reported that a shortage of tree fodder was the main component of their total feed deficit in the dry season. |
