Pragya Management Group on behalf of Rupantaran Nepal (an implementing agency subject to winning the bid) invites application from qualified Nepali citizens for the position of a Project Manager for upcoming joint donors funded Forestry Programme in 18 districts of Nepal.

Rupantaran Nepal (RN) is an independent, profit not distributing company founded by a group of development professionals and social activists working in the forestry and Natural Resources Management sector. RN aims to contribute to Nepal’s national development goals of poverty reduction, social empowerment, economic development and environmental sustainability.

The Project Manager (PM) based in Kathmandu will lead the programme with overall responsibility of managing programme, providing strategic direction for coordination, implementation, control and achieving the goal and expected outcome of the Programme ensuring consistency with Rupantaran Nepal’s strategy, commitments and goals. The PM is responsible for all the administration and fiscal management, and ensure efficient and effective management of all the aspects of the programme in line with the corporate policies and procedures of supporting donors.

Required qualification and competencies:

  • Masters degree in a relevant subject (development, social science, forestry, NRM etc.)
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant responsibility and experience working with multiple partners and in mult i-disciplinary teams in the development sector and/or a donor funded programme and minimum of 5 years working experience in a senior management team
  • Empathy with the poor and socially excluded; commitment to social justice; team worker with good communication and influencing skills; and ability to innovate and be pro-active
  • A clear understanding of contemporary development issues particularly on poverty, social inclusion, livelihoods, governance and peace sensitive development
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage projects, contractors and services to achieve results
  • Experience of managing resources to achieve value for money
  • Demonstrable capacity of gender sensitivity, workforce diversity and pro poor commitment
  • Able to network and maintain working relationships with donors, stakeholders, partners and staff and sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Good judgment, critical thinking, ability to analyze and problem solving skills, and decision making competence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali

This is a senior position, which requires leading and managing a large team of multi disciplinary professionals across the 18 districts of Nepal. The position carries a competitive remuneration package.
