Call for Expression of Interest for MSFP Innovation Fund

The Multi Stakeholder Forestry Programme (MSFP) is a forestry programme of the Government of Nepal (GoN) which aims to improve livelihoods and resilience of the poor and disadvantaged people in Nepal by maximising the contribution of the country’s forestry sector to inclusive economic growth, poverty reduction and tackling climate change. The Programme is built on the achievements of over 20 years of forestry work of the Government of Nepal. It is designed and being implemented in two distinct phases - an initial transition phase (2012–15) and subsequent full implementation phase (2016–21). The Programme  is funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the Government of Switzerland, the Government of Finland (GoF), and the United Kingdom’s Department  for International Development (DFID). MSFP contributes to  the vision of the Ministry of  Forests and Soil Conservation (MFSC), “Forestry for people’s prosperity” through its four major areas of outcomes (a) development and implementation of forestry sector strategy, policies and plans through multi stakeholder processes; (b) creating jobs in forestry through investment in forest-based enterprises; (c) supporting rural communities – especially the poor, disadvantaged and climate vulnerable - for better livelihoods through access to forest products and services, and (d) sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.

In addition to the activities to be implemented by the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservations, Department of Forests, District Forest Offices and  the non-state Implementing Agencies, the programme promotes innovative and creative activities and methodologies to add value in achieving MSFP results and outcomes, and for the development of new approaches as well as strengthen existing MSFP approaches and thus has set up an innovation fund for this purpose.

MSFP Services Support Unit (SSU) invites for concept notes from the interested and eligible organsations and individuals to access the fund and implement innovative activities in the areas of programme support mentioned above including areas of monitoring, communication and knowledge management. For the first lot of projects under Innovation Fund, the interested applicants shall submit Expression of Interest (EoI) with short concept notes latest by Friday, 18th January 2013 in a sealed envelope clearly marked as "Expression of Interest for MSFP lnnovation Fund" to:

The results of the Eol selection process will be notified to all applicants as per the schedule through an official letter from the SSU. MSFP reserves the right to cancel any bid and/or the bidding process without giving any reasons whatsoever.
