| Abstract | The Chautara forest area of Nepal is described together with the community forest project in that area and the Nepal-Australia Forest Project which has supported the community project. The project included planting of nurseries and involvement of the community in their use and the use of their products and also the establishment of protected areas of natural forest. The project allowed large areas to be reforested and so protected from erosion. |
