Indigofera teysmanni - a species for the terai and bhabar terai

A brief account is given of research on Indigofera teysmanni [I. teysmannii] in Nepal by the Forestry Research Division. In trials, the species has shown promise as a very fast growing, short-rotation fuelwood tree at low altitudes, and it is also good in mixtures with other plantation species for suppressing weeds. It is also known as a shade and windbreak tree, a nitrogen fixer and source of green manure. It grows on many soil types. There is one report of deaths from fungal attack.
