Government of Nepal (GON) is implementing Micro-Enterprise Development Programme - Phase III (MEDEP - III) with supports from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The purpose of MEDEP is to provide support to Government of Nepal to design Policies and take initiatives to expand employment opportunities through Micro-Enterprise Development for Poor, Youths, Women and Socially Excluded Groups in selected districts. MEDEP intends to recruit the following professional and support staffs on contractual basis and applications are invited from the interested and qualified citizens of Nepal for the following positions: 

Position: Marketing and Appropriate Technology Support Specialist (MATSS) - NPPP II 

Number of Position: One 

Duty Station: Lalitpur with extensive visits to districts 

Job Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of National Programme Manager (NPM), MATSS will be responsible to plan and analyze surveys and develop strategies for potential products for enterprises at the district, regional and national levels, including overcoming constraints in product development, technology, raw materials, market chains, value chain and promotion through the development of partnerships and strategic alliances with various organizations; conduct trainings in marketing, market networking, value chain analysis or related subjects to transfer skills to entrepreneurs/entrepreneurs' associations; co-ordinate with Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSl), National Micro-Entrepreneurs' Group Association (NMEGA), District Micro-Entrepreneurs Group Associations (DMEGA), District level Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Business Organisations, other donor funded programmes and projects and other relevant organisations for developing backward-forward linkages, business to business linkages; develop strategies and plans for scaling up of the micro enterprises particularly the Market Outlets (SAUGAT GRIHA) established in the districts, regional and national levels; assess the potential products for export and link With exporting business organisations; identify, test and adapt or adopt the Appropriate Technologies required for entrepreneurs and develop link with Appropriate Technology Institutions to transfer the technologies; design and conduct Participatory Action Research (PAR) in marketing of the products, appropriate technology testing and transfer; provide technical support to entrepreneurs for designing and registration of product brands; ensure gender and social inclusion principles and concepts are implemented at all levels; develop Terms of Reference (TOR) for consultants. 

Qualifications, Experiences and Language: 

The candidate should have a Master's Degree with major in Marketing or equivalent in Market Chain Management or Value Chain Management or Business Management or Agriculture or Forestry or Natural Resource Management or Market Development or Food Technology or relevant field from recognised university. Ph. D. Degree in the relevant field preferred. S/be should possess a minimum of 7 years of practical business experience in developing and implementing marketing plans for business enterprises, value chain analysis, scaling up supports to and small enterprises, and/or poverty alleviation activities in Nepal.

He/she should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the basic concepts of enterprise development, market driven development strategies and branding.

S/he should possess understanding and knowledge of the basic computer systems necessary for: (a) data analysis and (b) word processing. Good command of both Nepali and English languages and excellent report writing skills Typing skills in both English and Nepali languages are essential.
