Government of Nepal (GON) is implementing Micro-Enterprise Development Programme - Phase III (MEDEP - III) with supports from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The purpose of MEDEP is to provide support to Government of Nepal to design Policies and take initiatives to expand employment opportunities through Micro-Enterprise Development for Poor, Youths, Women and Socially Excluded Groups in selected districts. MEDEP intends to recruit 6 (six) Enterprise Development Officers (EDO) to work at Programme districts on contractual basis. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of Micro-Enterprise Specialist (MES) of the Area programme Support Office (APSO) with overall supervision of programme management.
Job Responsibilities:
EDO will be responsible for support MES in monitoring the work progress of MEDEP inputs to the district and assist to document the progress made in a quarterly basis; assist to document the progress, achievements, effects and impacts and to publish occasional papers; best practices and challenging issues related to programme and other important issues; review and analyze progress information, prepare relevant case studies for good documentation of regional efforts; support APSO for the effective implementation Of MEDEP modality with close consultation to District Enterprise Development Committee (DEDC) members and partner organisations in the districts; conduct meetings, workshops, discussion with DDC, VDCs, line agencies, government programmes and projects donor funded projects, (l)NGOs and co-ordinate with them for generating resources to implement MEDEP type model in the districts and provide such technical expertise to other districts under other APSOs on demand basis; act as the focal person in DDC/DEDC to co-ordinate the programmes and activities to implement enterprise development activities in the district; provide technical support to Enterprise Development Unit (EDU)/DDC, DEDC members including Cottage and Small Industry Office (CSIO)/Cottage and Small Industry Development Board (CSIDB), Business Development Service Providing Organisations (BDSPOs), District Micro-Entreprneurs' Group Associations (DMEGAs), etc. for proper coordination and execution of programme activities in the district; ensure that gender and social inclusion concept and principles are internalised in the programme by all staff, DEDC members, (BDSPOs) District Micro-Entrepreneurs' Group Associations (DMEGAs).
Qualifications, Experiences and Languages:
The candidate will have at least Bachelors Degree in fields relevant to economic development in Nepal such as Economics or Business Management or Natural Resource Management or Agriculture or Forestry or relevant field from the recognized University. Masters degree preferred. S/he should possess a clear understanding of the basic concepts of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) development, market-driven development strategies, and of enhancing sustainable livelihoods. S/he should have at least five years working experiences in the fields of community or micro-enterprise development, and/or poverty alleviation activities in Nepal or related fields. Fluency in both spoken and written Nepali and English languages is required. Computer skills of Microsoft Windows including Access with computer typing both in English and Nepali languages are essential.
