A bilateral project of Government of Nepal funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and managed by Inter cooperation is working in Dolakha, Ramechhap, Okhaldunga & Khotang districts. The project aims at sustainable livelihoods improvement of forest users and especially that of disadvantaged households in multi-partnership approach with District Forest Office, NGOs, community forest user groups, federations and professional organizations. The project invites applications from qualified Nepali candidates for following positions:

Value Chain Officer (VCO), based in one of the project districts, except Dolakha

Qualifications: Masters Degree in Forestry or Masters in relevant areas in Natural Resource Management, with at least 5 years working experience in community managed forest based enterprise development and forest product commercialization.

Competencies and Experiences:

• Sound knowledge and practical experiences on value chain concept: business plan preparation; product development, marketing etc.
• Sound knowledge on community forestry program and relevant policies
• Experience of working with government, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, community forestry user groups, etc.

Responsibilities: VCO is responsible for providing technical (enterprise promotion related) and institutional support to community forest user groups in project districts in coordination with District project team; also responsible for providing policy feedback to the project

District Project Coordinator (DPC), based in Khotang

Qualifications: Masters degree in Forestry, or in Masters relevant areas of Natural Resource Management with at least 5 years of working experience in community forestry. Bachelor level degree in Forestry is a must.

Competencies and Experiences:

• Knowledge and practical experiences of rural development, social mobilization, principle and practice of good governance/sustainable forest management, forest based enterprise, etc.
• Experience of working with government, nongovernmental organizations, civil society organizations, community forestry user groups, etc.
• Sound knowledge on concepts and practical experiences of gender and social equity, social inclusion, poverty, pro poor livelihoods, local state building and policy processes.

Responsibilities: DPC is responsible for overall management and administration of the program in Khotang in coordination and collaboration with district partners, stakeholders, and SDC projects in Khotang,

Special skills relevant for these positions:

• Self-motivation to work with minimal supervision
• Willing to work in remote areas with poor disadvantaged people and poor rural setting
• Sensitivity in areas of gender and social inclusion.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and coordination skill, good team player :
• Fluency in written and spoken English and good computer skills
• Excellent report writing skills and presentation skills

Note for these positions: Permanent government employees are required to submit a "No objection letter" and will be required to resign if appointed in the post. Salary and benefits will be provided according to the project norms.
