Government of Nepal (GON) is implementing Micro-Enterprise Development Programme - Phase III (MEDEP - III) with supports from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The purpose of MEDEP is to provide support to Government of Nepal to design Policies and take initiatives to expand employment opportunities through Micro-Enterprise Development for Poor, Youths, Women and Socially Excluded Groups in selected districts. MEDEP intends to recruit 3 (three) Community Forest Technicians to work at Area Programme Support Office (APSO) in the regions and Programme Districts on contractual basis. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of Micro-Enterprise Specialist (MES) of the Area programme Support Office (APSO) with overall supervision of programme management.
Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate in the selection of potential CFUGs in specified locations in close co-ordination with District Forest Office (DFO), Federation of Community Forest Users in Nepal (FECOFUN) and other concerned stakeholders; assess the status of CFUG operation plan and support CFUGs in the preparation, revision and implementation of Operational Plans; assess the resource potentials of both NTFP and Timber in the selected CFUGs as well as in the national forests; provide technical backstopping skills to CFUGs regarding forest management in regular manner; participate in monthly staff and range post meeting and co-ordinate range post whilst implementing programme activities; participate in CFUGs meeting and monitor CFUG activities; assist Enterprise Development Facilitators (EDFs) in identifying and providing technical training in forest based enterprises development particularly to the poor, women, and excluded groups as identified by EDFs among the CFUG members; apply and implement the principles and processes of Gender and Social Inclusion as the cross cutting issue; provide technical support to APSO, DFO, FECOFUN, CFUGs, other relevant organisations and arrange training to develop and implement the Second Generation Operation Plan (SGOP) as per approved practices in other programme districts.
Qualifications, Experiences And Languages:
Intermediate of Science in Forestry or equivalent in relevant field from recognized institution with at least Three years experience in community forest development activities, pine plantation management and forest based enterprise development. S/He must have experience of community pine plantation management and have knowledge of basic computer operation. Experience in similar capacity in forestry or enterprise development projects will be a special advantage. Basic Computer skills with typing skills in Nepali language are also essential. S/He will have fluency in spoken and written Nepalese languages and good knowledge of English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in MEDEP programme districts will be an added advantage.
