Nepal Swiss Community Forestry Project (NSCFP), a bilateral project of Government of Nepal and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and managed by Inter-cooperation, is- implementing community forestry program in Dolakha, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga districts. The project aims at sustainable livelihoods improvement of forest users and especially that of disadvantaged households in multi-partnership approach with District Forest Office, NGOs, community forest user groups, federations and professional organizations. The project invites applications from qualified Nepali candidates for following positions for Phase VI (2008-2011).
Position: Forest Development Officer (FDO)
Qualifications: Bachelor degree in forestry
Experience:
- 3 years working experience in community forestry
- Experience of working with government and non-governmental institutions
Competencies:
- Knowledge on development approaches and concepts of livelihoods and good governance and project cycle management
- Good knowledge and experience on community forestry and forestry policies.
FDO is responsible for providing overall technical and institutional support to forest users on sustainable forest management and livelihoods improvement of disadvantaged households.
Special skills:
- Self-motivation to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication, facilitation and coordination skill, good team player
- Fluency in written and spoken English and good computer skills
- Excellent report writing skills and presentation skills
- Sensitivity in areas of gender and social inclusion
Duty Station: one of the project districts.
Permanent government employees are required to submit a "No objection letter" and will be required to resign if appointed in the post.
