The Multi Stakeholder Forestry Programme (MSFP) is a forestry programme of the Government of Nepal (GoN). The programme aims to improve livelihoods and resilience of the poor and disadvantaged people in Nepal by maximizing the contribution of the country's forestry sector to inclusive economic growth, poverty reduction and tackling climate change. The programme is funded by the Governments of Finland (GoF), Switzerland and the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID). The Embassy of Switzerland, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC has established a Services Support Unit (SSU) in Kathmandu to support the implementation of the MSFP during the first phase (2012-2015). The SSU is now seeking applications from qualified and experienced Nepali citizens for the following positions:

Programme Officer (6 positions)

Duration: 1 year contract with possibility of extension after annual performance review.

Duty station: Dhankuta, Okhaldhunga, Baglung, Butwal, Dang or Bajhang with frequent field visits in MSFP working districts.

Minimum Qualification and Competence

• Bachelor degree in Forestry;
• At least 3 years of working experience on forestry/natural resources related projects/ programmes and/or I/NGOs;
• Good understanding of issues related to forestry/natural resource management, forest based livelihoods, climate change, gender, poverty reduction, and social inclusion in Nepal;
• Good understanding of functioning of the line agencies of the Government of Nepal, Non- Government Organizations (NGOs) and preferably of the donors and private sector;
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Nepali;
• Good knowledge of computers and applications for reporting;
• Ability to represent and interact independently with implementing agencies and other stakeholders.

Methodical Qualification/Competence

• Strong management qualities, at the same time excellent team player;
• Target and result-oriented (steadfast, perseverant );
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, conceptualize and monitor programmes.

Social Qualification/Competence

• Able to work under pressure to meet the expectations of target groups, cluster team and stakeholders;
• Good networking, negotiation and communication skills;
• Sensitivity in the areas of gender equality, poverty, social inclusion and equity;
• Readiness to work in rural areas with limited facilities;
• Ability to travel to and stay in remote areas and work in a multi-cultural work in a multicultural environment.
